Alpine iLX-507 stepped up the game and finally released their first 7 inch double din high definition display and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. This new model brings a whole new sound settings, in fact it has a new completely redesigned page where you have a quick access to all the sound settings you need.

The Design
At the first impression might not seem too different than other alpine double din headunits but we can notice a few nice details. My favorite design detail is that the screen bezels are equal on each side. Many other brands including Alpine as well, for some reason, the bezels are asymmetrical. This stands out when it is installed in the dash as it will look OEM. The physical buttons have small indentations on the volume buttons and seek buttons for easy identification. The chrome trim in the center is a nice touch giving it a premium look.
The key buttons are white so they cannot be changed to match the rest dash/console lights. Yet this is a feature that I would like to see more often. But hey there is no perfect receiver out there.

High-resolution display
We are so used to seeing sharp images and details starting from our smartphones to TVs, so there’s no reason your stereo’s screen can’t look a little better. Alpine gave this display a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels, the small details when using Google Maps are going to be a nice touch. The HDMI port will really take advantage of the quality of the display as it will reproduce sharp details and vivid colors. This will make it into the High Definition Receivers that you can buy list that I’ve made couple of months ago.
Wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay
There is nothing like getting in your car and having your favorite apps on the screen while keeping the phone in your pocket. That’s how every car should be nowadays. I’ve installed this Alpine in my Toyota 4Runner and trust me, it made a huge difference over the OEM nav. The iLX-507’s compatible with both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The screen responsiveness while wirelessly connected to your phone is very good. There is almost no lag and that is a good thing. Of course, a wired connection will always work faster but really you won’t notice a major difference.
Vehicle factory extras
The cherry on top is that I’ve gained a few cool features in my 4Runner. This Alpine iLX-507 is compatible with iDatalink Maestro, not only this module helped me to keep my original JBL sound system amplifier but also it added a way to check out engine performance data and other vehicle data right on the screen. Never thought that I would be able to read DTC codes right on the screen and delete them also. Luckily it’s a 4Runner so issues are not popping out that easily.
Audio Improvement
Now my Limited 4Runner already had a decent JBL sound system. The audio improved a little, especially having some extra sound effects available only on Alpine receivers. It features 13-band parametric adjustments, time alignment, and much more. And yeah… it supports lossless FLAC files to give you a thrilling sound experience. Thanks to Alpine’s high-quality audio components, such as a full-digital power integrated circuit and custom capacitors to keep the signal strong, clean, and free of noise.
There is no doubt that Alpine iLX-507 makes a great road trip companion with all those options.
